Hi Guys,
I've just fitted my schrick cams and i've timed the belt properly. When turning the engine around by hand via the bottom pulley i hit a tuff spot which i believe is a piston hitting a valve. I can't see why this is happening as all the timing marks align. It on a x16xe with c16xe head using standard pulleys. Any ideas? Also is the inlet and exhaust cams different. I don't think they are but thought i'd better check. Cheers.

the numbers stamped on the end of the cams:
e1 264-00 is inlet
a1 264-00 is exhaust..
there will be no interferance on std timing marks, make sure you have timed it properly...

Yes cheers mate. I had them the wrong way around and one of the lobes on the inlet is thinner to clear a piece of metal in the cylinder head. As i had them the wrong way around it just hit the metal and wouldn't go any further. Cheer.

Right i've swapped them around and still same problem. It happens on each cam. It rotates around and then hits a piece of the head. There is no way it could clear it. Does it matter that i'm using a c16xe head. Surely not?

Just spoke to Dave A who i bought them off and the lift is to much and the head requires machining to fit them. Bit of a bummer.

The head might, the pistons don't though.
I have a head which would clear them

machining is such a strong word. Dave used a dremel on his head so maybe you can do the same
