middle one is usually if the switch has a light built in- i.e. light comes on when switch is on.

I'd say that its a toggle switch, not a normal one.

test it with a multimeter.you need one to do the 'wiring in' properly anyway.

its probably a dual circuit switch rather than an 'on/off' type so it will swich 2 circuits so it may have a common earth (top pole) and the other 2 will be the + feed to their relevant circuit.

i.e if it was to control a fan that was constantly on, 1 circuit would be for a slow speed, the other for a high speed.

Its just going to be an on/off switch for some lights, thats all, was just going to put in in-line on the live wire to the lights?

Its just for footwell lights, they have an earth on them already, only two wires go to them, one live & one earth. I was just going to connect the earth to a suitable earth point, then bring a live from the battery with an in-line fuse, and the switch in-line with the live.

i would just find a live inside the car mate to save trailing wires thru the bulk head n that, they're only minimal power users anyway so wont over load anything, get1 from cig lighter thatl be easier

Gave it a shot tonight, but wired it into an ignition live, so the car wouldnt start

Took it off, all works fine now. Will take a live from the battery instead
