Ive been offered a 1.6 16v sport corsa.....but the timming belt has snapped...

Looking at alot of damage?

Possible damage could include: -

Head
Valves
Pistons

You might be lucky and just have to change the valves but like dean said, worst case is piston damage and head damage. its a lottery really unless you take the head off

easy enough to get a new head fitted woudnt it...less hassle

Unless the pistons are damaged, yes, probably.

find out what speed he was doing when it happened bit of an indicator as to what rpm engine was at, more likely be less damage if it was just idling than at 5000rpm

wouldnt even bother fixing it just get an engine for 300 quid and drop that in

It will be valves, very very rare that the pistons and head will be fooked as a result of cambelt failure.

will have broke the valve guides as well as bending the valves!

usualy jus valves i have repair a few n on all off them it was jus valves. jus get another head ull get 1 at a good deal n if you can fit the head or have a mate that can your laffin infact i have a head for 1 lol

Very very Rarely does it do that, if that happened to you then you were unlucky.

it happend as he turned the ignition...so might be in luck....

Every vaux 16v head i have took off has had broken guides. So all my customers must be really unlucky

Well ive done hundreds of vauxhalls and never have I had a valve guide break. Only one it happened on was a 1600 crossflow that went under 6 ft of water at full bore lol.
