I'm looking at buying a new PC for a bit of casual gaming and video rendering.
It won't be playing anything more strenuous than World of Warcraft realistically, as any other new release games will be bought for my Xbox.
I can't really be bothered with upgrading my current PC (A64 4000, x850xtpe, 2gb DDR), I just want to start fresh, and this Dell is the first to catch my eye.
Anyway, for £609 I can be looking at the following system including PnP:
PROCESSOR XPS 420 Viiv Intel® Processor Q6600 Quad Core™ 2.40GHz, 1066Mhz FSB, 8MB cache
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium - English
HARDWARE SUPPORT Base Warranty - 1 Year XPS Premium Hardware Support (incl. Gaming and On-Site Support)
MEMORY 2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
HARD DRIVE 640GB Dual Hard Drive Raid 0 Stripe (2x320GB - 7200rpm)
GRAPHICS CARD SINGLE 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT card
OPTICAL DRIVE 16x DVD +/- RW Drive
Would this be worth it? Unfortunately I've fallen well behind on home PC technology and have no idea what is what nowadays
If anyone can reccomend me a better deal elsewhere - let me know, and I've got no problem putting together a PC myself if needed.

I bet they sent him the other one out next day.
They pick the same part where available and send out an alternate if it's not.
What exactly is happening to the drives?

I've ordered mine with 2gb of ram. It's MUCH more cost effective for me to buy one with 2gb and upgrade to 4gb myself

I bought one of these 3 weeks ago
Mainly use it for photo, video editing.
Preforms really well and looks great.
Only negative points is that the PSU is only 375W which is pretty low for having an 8800GT.
But it is a really great system and would recommend it!

indeed, but 1) i would rather keep it the same brand of RAM, matched all the way through and 2) work are paying for it not me

From what i've read, vista32 will only accomodate 4gb of ram, so 6gb would be a little overkill
First time using Vista, I'm scared
