Got my new pc today. Got home, started setting it up, had a little play with Windows Vista...

"hhmmm, not too keen, but ah well, i'm sure i'll get used to it soon"

Started installing some software...

"hhmmm, this software doesn't seem to work too well with Vista."

I do a little reading and from what i can tell, some software isn't compatible with Vista

I decide to get rid of vista and install XP on it instead, but i'm finding it bloody impossible to get rid of Vista, and now i've just read that my computer might not be compatible with XP because i need Windows XP SATA Controller drivers or something

GGGGRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Sooooo stressed and confused!!

Anyone had to do this before?

You need XP SP2 full install CD and it'll be fine, just delete the partition and you'll completely lose Vista.

What software wasn't working, there is some stuff that doesn't work but it's normally really old and there are updates or something better. (i know this doesn't apply 100% of the time before somebody comes in with a program from 1985 that they still have to run)

Don't like Vista myself but just left it. Prefer XP,if I knew how to install it I would.

Its the software I have for my BT Voyager 220V modem for broadband.

It kind of worked, but really, really slowly and then it froze when installing the software.

It looks like that router has an ethernet port.

If you are currently using usb ethernet is better anyway, you won't need any software installed for the ethernet, you possibly won't even need it installed for the usb.

That driver says it works with vista.

You don't need any software at all for ethernet, should be working fine if you uninstall it.

What a wise man you are.

Got the internet working fine now

Just gonna stick with Vista. Far too much hassle to change back to XP.

If you boot to the XP CD you'll be fine.

Alternatively, don't use old software.
