how much does a rebuild cost on a redtop, me and my mate will do it but how much are the parts, also when fitting a redtop do you have to seem weld anything? i remember someone saying something but i cant remember im asking this as my sport engine is doing my head in, flat as a pancake again and ive had enough of splashing out on it to get it fixed all the time!

anyhelp and guidance would be greatly appreciated as i plan to get the bits and sort it all out before spring/summer '09

Corsa shell doesn't need any strengthening plates welded in.

Why would you need standalone management with cams and manifolds? As per your sig.

i would suggest you view one while its still in the car, so you can hear it running and stuff. may save you from having to rebuild it, or changing all the wearing parts.

You get much better results with aftermarket management.

cams arent wild enough to warrent standalone though.

superchip or eauiv should be fine tbh.

unless you've actually heard the engine running from cold, driven it etc, then rebuilding it should always be a must.

usual:

big ends
mains
sump set
head set
headbolts
waterpump
rebuilt oil pump

if bores are ok, just a light hone otherwise have to look at new pistons

That's what I'd have thought.
