Could be a 100 things,
Press the clutch in when stationary does it do it then? If not then its not your gearbox.

try resting your foot on the clutch pedal with out pushing it ryte down, could be a noisey release bearing,
do you no where abouts its coming from?
use a long screw driver, put ure ear on the end of it and go around the engine and see where its coming from,

If it's got AC then it could be that the magnetic clutch is catching. Does it stop with AC turned on?
