Due an upgrade and need to decide on a handset. Don't want anything fancy as I just scratch it/drop it/get it covered in oil etc.
The features I want are Camera, MP3, Bluetooth, WiFi and not a brick.
Been looking at the Nokia 6500 Slide, that any good?

Nokia E51. Business phone. Not sure you'll get it on contract though. Stack loads on eBay.

Neither are that great for internet browsing however on WiFi. Mobile sites are fine, normal sites like Corsasport get pretty tiresome!

Yeah, I meant the screen size, that's all. The actual browsing and connecting to a WiFi network is awesome.

I love mine. IMAP email works pretty well as well. MS Office & Adobe Acrobat Reader compatibility is handy too.

I only want wifi so I can access my emails when im at work in the workshop, not for web browsing etc
I like both the E51 and E66!
What about other phones like Sony Ericsons etc? I've always had Nokias and wouldn't mind a change.

My misses has always had Sony Ericssons. Has a firm Nokia user, I hate them. They are too 'animated' which makes using the menu etc very slow. It often freezes, your press buttons in anger than it does everything you've just inadvertently asked it to do.
If you only want WiFi for emails then you don't need WiFi! If you have 3G coverage (or even 2G) you can access your emails via that - will just mean you need an 'Unlimited Web' bolt on.
WiFi is free though, so is your choice.
On the E51 you can set up the email client to ask what form of connection you use, or set it automatically etc

I dont want the bolt on so that was why I was wanting WiFi. I've got it set up like that on my N95 already so I only use the WiFi connection.
Also, the contract I've been offered is unlimited texts and 200 mins for £10 a month! Think that'll depend on the handset I choose though but I'm fed up paying £40 a month for things I never use!

I use a program called emoze for push email(gmail) on my E51, it hardly uses any data, don't think it uses even a meg a day, most contracts give you at least double that as standard these days.

I just use the standard Nokia mailbox thing, so the email Inbox is a few below MMS/SMS Inbox. Works well. I have Unlimited Web so don't care what it uses

emoze makes it show up in that same mailbox, it's push though so comes up when you receive an email.

I don't want that as I get loads of emails throughout the day and I'll just get distracted all the time I just check as and when by connecting. You can do the normal Nokia mailbox to 'push' - well, it's more setting it to connecting every so often. I'm using IMAP though so suits me how I use it.

Getting the E51 on my 02 contract and 6301 on my Orange contract! Both £15 a month, which is cheaper than what I'm paying at the moment for the Orange one alone!

No, its whats called a UMA phone, which if the service provider supports it and you have the right broadband package your mobile becomes you DECT phone via wifi when at home. Pointless idea really.
It has more up to date softwear and more internal memory
