I really need to get an on-line portfolio done quickly. But my time is stretched really thin at the moment and I don't really want to have to write a CMS as well as doing a nice front end.

I really like using the prototype and script.aculo.us frameworks and want to use them in my front end. I was wondering if there were any open source back ends that could be coupled up with my design.

I know about stuff like Joomla and Wordpress, but I don't want to spend ages having to modify stuff to get things the way I want.

ed, what sort of features are you looking for?

I'm in the process of building a back end CMS system for a site.

Basically, you design a page, then highlight area's that you'd like to be 'dynamic' i.e. This text, this picture, this title, etc...

Then my code replaces them on page with asp.net placeholders and fetches the stuff from the database back end (Sql server) and then you use the CMS back end (like you'd use on a blogging site) to write new content, add new images, delete / edit etc.

I just want to be able to make dynamic pages which will be displayed on a main menu so I can put in some simple info that could be rendered using XHTML or even BB Code.

Then I want to be able to have a projects section where I can create a main page, with some sub-pages beneath it which can show the different phases, from for example, the brief, sketches, renderings, models and then the product at the end of it.

I suppose I could just do it in static HTML with no back end as most the data wont change, but I stopped doing sites that way such a long time ago it feels strange going back to it

ah right, was thinking you would want something dynamic that'd be constantly updating / changing.

I suppose you could just use SSI or something, have 1 main page and just get it to include different content from text files rather than DB backend.
