Just had load of building work done. Some may have seen my previous post of boiler howling since pipes had been re-routed, some people mentioned it could be the auto air valve. Anyway stopped the howling but few days ago electric started tripping when boiler is turned on. (Currently got it running off extention from another room as new electrics in the kitchen not fully hooked up yet.

Anyway after arsing about ive removed the front of the boiler. The damn auto air valve is leaking water - not much just tiny drips by looks of it but not good either way.

Ive google'd this and apparently they are a swine for getting blocked with little bits of gunk etc and not self sealing.

My question is can I simply just close the screw cap and just continue to bleed the rads myself? I guess in asking if it will cause any damage by closing the valve off at the finger screw? Boiler is Baxi Combi80E

Cheers
