Is it when you close the screen? Sometimes the default setting is for the laptop to go into hibernation when the screen is shut - its in Power Options

Nope just heppns after being on for a while...on mains BTW i never use the battery.
Could be overheating i suppose but it comes right back on again and stays on for ages again

mine does/did this.. was whenever it got too hot.. i opened up the bottom, got the hoover in there and its been fine since.. even runs quieter

It's a Toshiba Equium somthing or other...been great up to now.3 years old so i suppose it's getting on a bit

It'l be overheating, it's shitting down to prevent any damage, mine was doing it for a good few weeks before it give up, this was on a desktop, but it's the same principle.
