Puchased myself a second monitor for the bedroom which is also going to be used as a TV. I get lonely all by myself

Plugged it all in but the picture is shite using HDMI. Could just be the cable but it's fine on my sky box and DVD recorder or it could be the port on my video card but again, plug this into my 32" TV and perfectly fine.

Works great using DVI but my video card only has 1 DVI out and 1 HDMI.

Worth trying a cable that converts HDMI to DVI Anyone experienced this..

Other option is to replace the video card but does the job perfectly well for what i use this PC for. Might need to find some mug to buy a video card now

Yeah tried all that. It's weird!

Will plug in my Sky box tomorrow and see what it does.

Running at 60Hz but the text is just not clear enough.

You're missing a setting somewhere, you have to make sure that the computer is putting it out without overscanning and that the monitor is set to display pixels 1:1, on my samsung for example I have to set the aspect ratio to 'just scan'.

I always have to go in and play about in the ATI program, I don't do anything specific, I just change settings until it works.

aye.. There is not much in there for an Advanced Mode.

I'm thinking it's time for a new video card with dual DVI outputs.

Works perfect on another TV though which is why i don't understand.

Could do with something a little better anyway for the odd game.

Switching from DVI to HDMI is pointless as they are the same signal just in a different plug (although HDMI 'could' carry audio too)

You have probably not got the right res. What resolution is your monitor (proper res not what signal it can receive) or what model monitor is it?

What about HDMI to DVI on a TV? My philips LCD doesn't have HDMI but the panasonic dvd does. Is it noticeably different to using the scart? (will be sorting a new tv soonish though but wanted to explore all options)

You could try a HDMI to DVI, don't think it'd make a difference though, there's cables in Home Bargains for £2

HDMI is basically DVI with audio, it's a million times better than scart.

The only thing you'll have a problem with is sound ,the dvd player will need to be able to put it out via phonos or something at the same time as hdmi.
