Hey all, just wondering what people recommend ISP wise for downloading.
Not sure if I'm going to be on ADSL or CABLE yet, so let me know!
Want to know speed / cost / reliabilty and 'restrictions' ...
Preferably one of the ISP's that didn't sign that they'll hand you over to the cops if you download a lot.
Thanks

Pretty sure O2 are one of the quickest/cheapest if you're in the right area. Type your postcode in on their site and you can get somethin like 20MB for £7 a month.
Any ISP can only offer a speed as fast as your line will handle tho iirc.

Upstream is absolute dogshit on them tho and using xbox live or the likes is near impossible. They're good if you don't want a phone line or are always on the move tho.

O2 are currently the best as far as i'm aware and apart from that, if you can get llu it's under 8 quid a month for 20 meg.
200k is 56k downloading speeds these days and a 3g dongle isn't exactly good for downloading, how much does it cost per gb?

20Mb on ADSL means you'll be lucky if you get anywhere near that. BeThere (owned by o2) offer 24Mb, for like £10 but again you need all the right conditions.
Best bet is DSL. If you can afford it, they offer 50Mb a month, and you'll actually get 50Mb too.

I've got an 8meg line and get 8meg.
Yes the speeds go down the further away you go but it still can't be beaten for £8 a month.
If you get cable (which isn't DSL) you can also expect a nice letter through your door telling you not to download or they'll take you to court.

Never had any problem with Sky or O2 when I've been with them in the past.

We're with Sky, used to push around 100GB a month when all the american TV shows was airing, never had a letter.
Never had a problem with the line or speed until recently, when midnight comes the line goes really shit for about 30-60minutes, then goes back to normal!

Im with UKFSN business line, 45GB a month peak and 300GB a month off peak, no restictions otherwise and im very pleased.
And as to who would download over 500GB in a month, well, I must admit that I have done in the past but I was being a little bit naughty lol
