Im running to external HDD'S 500gb each

And id like to be able to run them into the back of my tv as well as my computer, is this possible and what do I need?

You could try a USB Y lead (for powering over usb bus normally) then use a usb extension cable off each connector, 1 to tv, 1 to PC.

No idea if it will work though

but there would be 2 power sources going into the E/H, and i doubt you would be able to view content on the E/H if the pc and tv was on at the same time

You can't have 2 hosts accessing the same USB device at the same time.
Why did you need the HDD plugged into both?

Thanks all,

well thing is, My pc isn't most accessible as I'm running 7.1 dual screens 2 external hdd's 2 keyboards so as you can imagine the wiring is kinda set up and I don;t want to be playing with it all the time, even If I could get some sort of switch on off, a toggle?

Dont think this will work becuase there is potentiol for 2 things trying to get data at once and it might bugger it up

Like Jas said, you can do it with a toggle switch. Maplin do sharing hubs. Same thing really.

Yes, you can get devices that switch it, just not that allow access at the same time.
Can you not just share whatever media you need with the Xbox/PS3 and view it on the TV that way?

like I said 1TB worth of data, just want to be able to switch from pc to tv in seconds rather than trying to plug and unplug

doesnt your pc have front usb's???

External hdd usually have usb2 or ethernet these days
