Hi,
I have a 2000 Corsa Sport with a 1400 16v engine, it has recently developed a rattle which I assume could be tappets in need of adjustment.
I have no idea how to adjust them as its something I havent done before, if anyone could give me some advice it would be great.
Also, does anyone know what else could cause a rattle. It doesnt seem to have lost performance and the rattling speeds up proportional with rpm, hence making me think its just tappets...any ideas?
Thanks
James

it should be on hydraulic tappets which arn't adjustable.
if u take your cams out there will be 16 round silver bits. theyre your tappets. take em all out with a magnet and clean em up. if you turn them upside down theres a smaller circle in the middle, if you bang them against something these smaller circles will come out (might be a tight fit so bang them hard)
clean the internal bits and put them all back together. once done make sure the middles can be pushed in and that they spring back out on there own. this should solve a tappy tappet
