My mates '96 Corsa has a problem with the latch from inside the car when trying to open the bonnet. You can pull on it but it doesn't pop the bonnet. How else can it be opened, aside from using the latch? I can touch the catch under the bonnet when feeling through the grille, but doesn't feel as if it wants to budge.

Pull the latch inside the car a few times while someone is pushing on the front of the bonnet,
Have to do it in mine sometimes, I think its like the cable stretching due to it being old

Or tap the bonnet up in the top corner whilst pulling on the release lever

you need to find out if the cable itself is stiff... get someone to pull the lever while you look to see if the catch is moving, if the cable isnt stiff and the catch moves, its just the striker peg that needs adjusting, mine was too tight pulling the bonnet down too much, i loosened it off a couple of turns and it works perfectly now.

Attacked this problem again today and it still doesnt open. The latch inside the car does nothing. And even though we can feel the hook/latch under the bonnet it still wont budge or even look as if it'll open. I'm now thinking the spring that sits in the hole on the metal frame above the headlights is stuck. Even brute force wouldnt budge it.
Any more ideas? I've tried all the above.

get another bonnet from here/scrappy should only be £30 ish. then cut the other one off. make sure you work out what was causing it not to release before you close the new one.

I did manage to open the latch on an old metro with a screwdriver, but on that I could get my arm up from underneath the car and actually see the latch.

I managed to push the latch holding the pin on mine over with a bloody long screwdriver to release it
The problem I had was that the striker was too tight as mentioned somewhere above - wound it out a few times and it's been perfect since
