just blanked off the egr valve.
put it all back together, started it up and its making a rather loud high pitched whining noise :S
sounds like its coming from the egr valve area :S what the bloody hell isit ?
any ideas what it culd be ?

hmm.. could be.
when i start up the car from cold, its fine, but once it warms up, thats when it happens

You sure you connected all the air tubes back properly?

sounds like its leaking. I dont know how to block it so if i say, can you get 2 gasketts either side of the blanking plate, that would ensure a good seal. I have problems with my 1.2 but i just unplugged it and live with the engine management light :/

yep, 1 of the vac pipes is split but the noise isnt coming from there.
n im pretty sure i sealed the valve properly as the gasket was in gd cond n i tightened it rather toight ! =\

put some silicon on both sides of the gasket and try that lol i havent done it myself yet but mihgt help ya out

yh that might be worth doing.
i ljust thought, its a second hand egr valve so u wudnt have that its faulty would u ?
could the valve make a whining noise when hot ? :S
