WHY?
Cheap as fook though!
Comparing the 250gb model and the 4gb model means for an extra £50 I get 246GB extra and not having to buy shitty memory cards. Are they for people who don't use live?

Seems a bit pointless, but its the same price as the old arcade.

This.
But yeah a bit pointless, an xbox without live is like a 3 legged donkey or a PS3

I'd say its aimed more at casual gamers. You will soon fill 4gb with save game data regardless of being online.

I wouldn't say 4GB was pointless. I could make do with that on my xbox tbh. All I have is a couple of saves which is a few MB at best, plus my downloaded map packs which is a GB or 2.
I can't see 250GB useful unless you tend to install games, rip a hell of a lot of songs, or download a lot of demos/movies.

But for that extra £50 you could get an external 1TB drive and plug that on, if HDD space is what floats your boat.
EDIT: I'm only throwing these points in there btw. I'll be getting the 250GB myself. I'll wait till Christmas when there's a nice package deal with kinect, etc. tho.

Will I be able to save my games onto the 1tb hard drive though? I thought microsoft had a way to stop you from doing that?

I'll be honest, I'm not 100% sure. I assume you'll be able to put save files on there, but whether or not you can install the game onto one, dunno, it's not something I do.

You can use external USB memory but the xbox will only accept something like 8gb at the most, so if you have 16gb it will only show up as 8. Snidey Microsoft.

Is that when using it as xbox memory, as in being able to save games to it, etc? Because I can read my external HDD just fine for my movies/music and that's 500GB. Just wondering, as it's not something I've ever investigated because I've always had the official HDD's.

You can load music files pics and videos from the hard drives; however I am unsure how it works when it comes to saving things from the xbox to the external HDD.
