I have a sony bravia hd tv. Model number kdl32t2800.
Its about 3 year old.
Its usually left on stand by but with the odd switch completely off occasion. Came back from work to find the switch on but no stand by light.
Ive tried switching it on/off, plug out for seconds, tried another fuse but nothing.
Any ideas? I dont have a warranty either

Plugs are fine. They havent moved in months lol.
I thought it might have something to do with a main component. Much would it cost for something like that? Or is it new tv time

Have you tried plugging something else into its socket to check the socket is fine or alternatively try the tv in a different socket.

Most likely a capacitor in the main power unit has dried out, fault is more prone in cold weather.
Sit the tv on the radiator see if it works

I might be stating the obvious here, but it's probably the switch that is knackered.

No I meant the switch inside your TV. We once had a TV with the same problems that you described, and it was the switch that was faulty.
