this is on my 1.4 sport (x14xe)
basically i bought a second hand inlet manifold (powerbox) and fitted it to my car. this came with the throttle body allready attached . so instead of butchering my original TB i just took the throttle position sensor and icv off my previous tb and connected them to my new one which was attached to my powerbox.

now my car starts but the revs keep climbing. ive been told its an air or vacuum leak but have checked the car over and havent really found any. My mate (Spankyjames) on here helped me and he reckons its the throttle postion sensor. as the revs on idle climb up to as high as 4.5k maybe 5k sometimes. we disconnected the throttle cable and no difference.

james said that when i changed the tps over from my old tb apparently theyres a way of setting them up instead of just connecting them to my new tb? which i had no idea about. i also notice when i change gear that i have to be really quick with the clutch as if the clutch is in the revs will climb up quite quickly.

anyone have any ideas?

I know youve checked for leaks but its still a possibilty. Same happened to my x14xe when I fitted a power box, took ages to find the leak. Think it turned out that the seller hadnt welded a bit inside the box.

Good luck.

I had this, was either bogging down or revving its tits off; changed ICV,AMM etc etc etc and it turned out to be a faulty ECU

most likely a vacuum leak where the box mates to the inlet manifold. Also possible its either the tps or more likely icv. Have you left the engine running for a couple of mins to adjust itself?

the bracket on the powerbox needs bending mate. thats what i had to do on mine. when i stopped at traffic lights it kept revving upto like 4 or 5 thousand. its the cable sticking because its tight. I just got some plyers and gently bent it towards the throttle body. It worked on mine and the mrs car. Or if not that vaccuum leak mate.
