Anybody set theirs up as a media center? Found an old school xbox in the loft today, can i plug in an external hd and it will play .avi files? Even better, if I use a 360 and plug it in, can i play blu ray avis?
Still trying to sort out all my media after months ago posting up about it

I'm considering whether to do this or build a nice little HTPC to sit in the corner, so I shall be watching this thread with interest.

I use my XBMC every day. Brilliant bit of kit.
Wish they bundled the OS into a proper media streamer box for around the £100 mark. Would be a top seller!

As above, the old XBOX (http://dvice.com/pics/xbox1.JPG) isn't powerful enough to play anything apart from SD stuff (i.e. TV-XviD AVI's).
The ports need an adapter to accept a USB stick or drive, which is limited to a certain size or format IIRC.
It's also slow as fuck once you start using a different setup.
Get a Revo or any other half-decent ION system and install XBMC on it.
EDIT: I used to have one btw, they're loud as fuck as well.
