Software I work on only costs a few quid, actually now maybe nothing as I don't think you can get a hard copy...cost to the customer... approx. £100,000

I bet the same can be said of HTC handsets which are not much cheaper

I don't get why people think the physical cost of the item is interesting.

I get paid £60 a day but my time is charged at £600/day. Clearly we're ripping off clients.

Ps your not just buying the physical product, your buying the way of life, ease of use, time saving, enjoyment etc more than the physical item

This TBH. Although most cheapskates don't think about that sort of stuff, because products magically design and develop themselves for free according to them.

research, software development, constant support network, apple stores, all need paying for.
id say the support available for apple consumers is very good so goes a little bit of the way to justify a higher price

Apparently there's £7-8k's worth of 'stuff' in a BMW M3. British Airways asked their customers how much a ticket for a flight to New York should cost, the figure that they came up with was £1.5k so they charged that; worked out well for them because they were charging £500 before that. It happens everywhere, the value of a product is more than the sum of it's parts.

Someone said that a 911 only costs £2k more to make than a Boxster. I have no idea if that is true

Could be true, but to be able to manufacture something as complex as a car for a low figure will usually take a lot of investment in its manufacturing processes and design. If you want real value for money, buy an Range Rover or a Discovery because apparently they cost nearly the same as they sell them for to make.

At the volume they are produced I'm shocked they cost that much to make tbh.
