The misses has just picked up an iphone 4S as part of her orange contract at work, except she has a personal o2 Sim to put in.
She’s spoke with the Orange rep who’s said they’re unable to official unlock it but passed on contact details of someone who can.
Speaking with this person, he guarantees a permanent unlock and its safe to upgrade anytime etc, all for a fee of £55.
Now, knowing a little about iphone, he is obviously not using any kinda of apple-dev tools as you cannot safely upgrade firmware.
Looking on the orange website, they claim they’ll unlock your phone for a small fee, but not until you’ve owned the phone for 3 months (this could be why the rep is not offering).
The chap has asked she had an Itunes account as it’ll all be done through that.
Now looking up on the net: http://blog.rebelsimcard.com/iphone-4-uk-o2-unlock-itunes-factory-unlock-live.htm the only itunes unlock is an authorised carrier unlock.
Would anyone agree that its likely they could be skimming business away from orange in order to legally unlock the phones using the orange codes?

Hi Munchie, do you offer deals for multiple orders?
I dont know where exactly, but they have an orange business contract, unsure if its direct or not.
would you like me to find out?
Munchie, without going into great detail, how is this done?
Do you work for a carrier or anything?

I have been in the mobile trade for quite some time as you probably know.
I just ring my chap and he sends me the info.
Based in Birmingham if that helps!
I might be able to get discount yes, its prob best to send them all via courier or do them all individually at your desk! (Will take some time)
codes can take under 5 days

tbh, no-one will want to send their phones away. i'll be happy to grab all the phones together and arrange an evening where we can arrange a remote desktop connection if you like.
When you say under 5 days, I assume you mean I make payment and it'll take <5 days until we can unlock?

^^ good suggestion, it will come up with "sim not supported" or something like that if its locked to orange, is that correct Russ?
The microsim will have to be activated which can take 24 hours
