I've upgraded my phone and got the new HTC One X however I am not unable to receive text messages as all my friends have iPhones meaning the messages they send are being sent an imessages due to me having a iPhone 4 previously.

Does this eventually correct itself or does anyone know how to fix it?

I've turned iMessages off my old phone but don't see why I should have too.

Also Doug are you meaning my friends and wife should also turn there iMessages off as well? If so not possible and I can't ask people to do that

You need to ask your friends to delete the iMessage threads/conversations from their phones and start a fresh. If they just use reply then it will continue to try and send iMessages, it's a bit of a glitch with it and it's a little annoying if you swap phones and start to miss messages.

Similar thing happened when my mate changed his number
I would text his new number, and then the reply would come through from his old number

I did try deleting all threads and dont think it worked

They don't come out of your SMS allowance. They're the iPhone equivalent of BBM.

You'll find that most people are using it already.
