Trial and error!?

I'd go for 1-2 inches. Maybe 3 at the most, cos you havent got that much room. Don't spend a lot of time or money on it though, as any differences are gonna be pretty negligable!

I have made a heat shield works like a dream! No flat spots!
i made it out of aluminium sheeting
i bended the majority of it however i pop riverted a top on to it
Best thing to do i make it as box like as possible with as much room as poss for the air to circulate around. Keep the front open and dont put a side to the left hand side of the box.
Try to construct a top as well to stop as much hot air as possible
Buy 2 peaces of aluminium pipe to act as cold air feeds then ur in business!

Mount the box to the origional air box hole at the bottom front.
Use a penny washer and a 10mm nut and bolt

Any probs u2u me
Phil
