may sound stupid but i have no idea whatsoever about this sort of stuff. it's behind the oven. our current oven/hob is electric and we want a nice double gas oven, so would be ideal if we can connect it straight up.

Even if it is gas you still need a gas safe plumber to connect it up.

Electric ovens cook stuff quicker Ben. Gas ovens are more difficult/expensive to come by now too.

Gas hob, electric fan oven best combination.

Oh right, well thats rather annoying!

Think i'm just going to get a gas hob for now as our single electric oven still works fine.

Go for a dual fuel cook as said!

Dixons online has some good deals on Dual fuels, managed to get mine for £545 delivered, dual oven too!

Yeah it is. We just had our kitchen Done. Went for a hOtpoint electric oven and gas hob. Easy to install. Converted the old cooker point to a socket for the oven. Had to change the old bayonet connection for a rigid connection to the hob.
