Now I'll admit I only know the basics on how to use any apple product. I've set up mail accounts few times on work iPhones but that's about it.

But today one of our neighbours has got one today, her daughter was there today (not fit no pics before anyone asks) and she had all hers set up etc but for some reason they couldnt get neighbours email account set up. She has a Tiscali/talktalk account which she has been using for years on laptop etc. So she phoned me and asked if knew anything about it (

) I said I'll pop round as I've had dealing with these before hence the above, before I popped round I did a qucik bit of looking up and got the following website: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3925477?start=0&tstart=0 so followed the info on that but nothing. Then when I was round there I went on the Tiscali/talk talk website and looked at the email/server settings input them but nothing still. lets me save the account but says You may not be able to send/receive emails on this account.

Anyone help?

In particular setting the port to 587.

To answer the first question it asked me to try without SSL off and I said Yes but didnt work. (Presuming it tried it frist with SSL ON).

I didn't look hard enough to see that will try that tomorrow and report back. Thanks evilrob.

Edit: Wouldn't let me set Port Numbers until I had actually set the email account up, unless there is another way to that is there?

Tiscali/Talk Talk are shite.

I have an old tiscali email address which I can neither close down or add to an email client now to send mail from.

I'd go through the link Rob posted.

If it still doesn't work, you've probably been given the wrong password by your neighbour.

Right went round last night, neighbour put her own password in this time (instead of her granddaughter) did everything as above in evilrob's link and it workd
