Would i wire the voltmeter to +ve to ground and an ammeter in series with the +ve?
Any ideas how much they would cost?

wiring like that would make sense. voltmeters/ammeters arn't that expensive, check maplin.co.uk

Volts is across the system, current is in series.
Hence, voltage, one end on the wire/+ etc other end grounded.
Current, link in series with the wires, ie cut and slot in line for example.

ammeters are the biggest pain in the ass to wire up, dont bother, stick with a volt meter
|
