normaly they just go without any indication at all... if you do get any sound it will be a ticking noise which comes from the drivers side which increases in time with the speed of the engine. if your getting this switch the engine off remove the cover plate of the timing belt and check to see if you have any deposits of belt bit in the cover. if not turn the engine over and keep you eyes peeled for any signs of rips, tears or cracks. if you see any of these get it replace ASAP!!!

timing belts should be replaced every 10,000 or so...

you will notice this at any speed if it's bad enough, but more so when your parked up with the engine running. but it's a definate tick! not a tap or a knock just a tick.

don't think you would hear this while driving though..

best take it to someone you know and trust with a good knowledge of car mechanics. Not your local asshole he will just tell you it's gone anyway and it will cost you 250 quid to put right.

but then u get the cambelt that goes at 29,000miles and fooks ya valves....

U could get a cambelt that lasts over 60,000 miles but the longer u leave it the more likely it is to go, change frequently is adviced...

Better still, stick with a chain, get a 1.0 12V

if you are changing it then make sure you get a vauxhall cambelt & tensioner & not one from your local motor parts shop

Sorry you are correct... but in my case it seems to be every 5000 at the moment...

there seems to be an alightment problem with cam setup(standard) i've had the lot changed, belts, rollers and adjusters.... but still the cam belt will not align correctly even took it to a specailist to get it sorted and the only reason they could come up with is that the crank shaft has been machine a whisker to long...

vauxhall seem to be bemused by this as well... but they did give a bunch of free cambelts to keep me going...

that's a first!! free stuff from vauxhall..
