ive got a 97 R corsa, its got the electric speedo and i bought one with the exact same K= number from a vauxhall spare parts specialist, he told me it would be plug and play basically, take the old one out, put the new one in, it will work fine, but the rev counter just doesnt respond, like its not connected.
Does anyone know what up with it?
Cheers

yes, but wot model is ur car?
After 97, vaux got tight on the extra unnecessary equipment they put on the whole of there range, and that included things like the wire/coil set up to run the rev count, on models that never had a rev count.

yea, i was told by the man at the garage this morning that because its very early 97 it should have it there, like defintely have it, and it could either be faulty dials or theres a fualt in my car, or its just a case of its own and as you say doesnt have the wiring for it,

ill say this though, both clock units had the same contact marks on the same points of each contact strip
if it doesnt have the wire, is it possible/expensive to get it fitted?

well, i just tried another clocks unit, same thing, no revs.
So i spose that my wiring doesnt have a rev wire.
Is it possible to fit my corsa with a rev sensing green wire?

thats the one with the big cable into the back of the unit?
mine has a big PCB with two flpas with loads of contact points, and when in the dash, they fit over a big block with lots of gold contact points in it

*sigh*
find the ecu (dirvers footwell)
in there there are 3 green wires..... 1 of them runs @ 7v while idiling, put a voltage meter onit, and rev the car if it climes its the wire u need.
get some wire, trace into that wire adn run it too the 5th slot in connector bhind the dash where the rev counter is... now it will work

hoorah, ive done it
I ogt a mate to come round with his voltmeter, so i found the wire that fluctuated with the revs, in fact there was only 1 green wire and it was the right one, so took the guess work out. I had to jam the wire i added to reach the dash into the same plug as the original wire, then i fixed it there good and proper with some electrical tape and at the other end shaped the bare wire accordingly to fit in the groove and tinned it with solder. It was quite easy and straight forward actually,
eh, easy when you know how.
1 major problem i had, was i was sent diesel dials first time, and my car was limiting itself at what was read as 3800revs. It was a good job i rang the place back up and said they didnt work, cos they sent me another unit out, and this one was for a petrol car, i fitted the petrol set i was sent afterwards and it all read correct and everything.
the novelty isnt going to wear off that in a hurry i tell you!
