Hey guys, hows it going. Iv got a 1.6 16v corsa with the X16XE engine. Iv been getting a lot of jip of my mate with a VTS and im getting sick of seeing him pass me with his cheesy grin. I have a pipercross induction kit and straight thru stainless from cat back. Any suggestions how i can up the power to beat him. Cheers guys
p.s. corners are no problem he simply cant corner on the standard unicycle wheels

What's your budget?
Drop a redtop in for easy power or do what Jake says with a Mantzel inlet etc

unreliable? what a load of crap
if things are done right they are bulletproof, easy to fix if and when they go wrong. Insurance wise... make some calls

Only unreliable if they aren't taken care of.
TBH you don't hear of Calibra's/Cavs breaking down much due to engine trouble.

That is tru they are solid motors, iv just heard heaps of story's bout them breaking down. But now u mention it if never seen a cav or calibra broken down before, well not noticed one anyway. Insurance wise do i just tell them i have a corsa 1.4 with a 2.0 engine?

Bizarrely, you have to tell the insurance.
Its big money, you have to source the bits, get the stuff to fit it, then ensure the electrics are right, plus insurance and running costs are more.
Inlet might be more cost effective given your goal.

i could well believe it mate, i have been in the passenger seat of a friends an he was up to 140 then backed off and he is on standard wheels with a full straight through system and a air intake, thats why i had to put a retop in mine to p*ss on his chips coz he never used to stand a chance against my 200sx

In cars designed to run on a higher RON, yes. Eg Japanese cars, usually turbo'd, Scoobies, Evo's and the like.

These are all great ideas. Liking the cheaper options like slakeninghis oil filter and letting his tyres down. I think its maybe time to look at buying an alreadyXE'd corsa or an inlet and a chip
Cheers guys
