Doesnt seem a strange thing to ask members to do to help out the site and attract more members...asking to do it everytime is stupid though.

in fact i dont think it will help anything, dont even think it will make it go further up in google as position is usually based on page rank, and as this has no bearing on page rank...

I have got a few sites high in google for some popular keywords, and never have I used any gay shit like that. Surely keeping current and regular visitors happy should come before getting new visitors, not inconviencing them.

Ah, I was going to say. lol. What he is saying probably works as google looks for relevance of links. So if a site is getting clicked on a lot from their index their system probably sees it as something people are looking for. However, that will just be a tiny part of what the system uses and I don't see how inconviencing your current users is any help whatsoever.
