I'm more than content with 720p on my R74 with a 360

Isn't 1080i worse than 720p anyway?

The 1080i format has a higher resolution than 720p afaik

not the 1080p though...

720p and 1080p is the difference between earth and sky...

It's the difference between me using my 360 or splashing out £425+ tbh.

At whatever res, the 'i' means that lines 1,3,5,7... are drawn, then the tv goes back and draws 2,4,6,8...
'p' means that the pictures is drawn 1,2,3,4,5,6.... in one go.

P gives a smoother picture.

720 and 1080 are just the resolutions.

So at 1080i you have a higher res but the picture won't be as smooth.

I would say 1080i over 720p would depend on the content, fast paced games would probably be better at 720p.

what really annoys is some people come on here arguing about things they test on 480p or 720p or their lcd/monitors....and not to optimum potential

No, I still find the 1080i better than the 720p on any game I've tried

i would damn well expect the ps3 at 1080p to have a better picture than a 360 at 1080i

lets see how the 360 elite will do in this situation..

Ridge Racer 7 in 1080p looks amazing

My other games run at 720p (except Tekken actually) so it's down to my TV to do the scaling.

Funnily enough the Gadget Show put the PS3 forward as the best console to compete graphically, but for some stupid reason they were showing Gran Turismo HD I'm really not impressed by that so far -- hope the full game is better.

They did finish off saying just buy a PC if you're a hardcore gamer as it's better online and more powerful than any console (although 5 times the price for their highly specced system)...

You'll never win this argument though -- it's all down to personal taste.
