My bro got his PS3 today, 30mins ago i went to have a go on it and its broke
I havent got a clue whats happened but there is no image on the screen
All is plugged in properly as it was working earlier
Is this common?

ive been thro 2 like that, lights etc are on, but just get nothing from it, I ended up just gettin a refund dude

You managed to get 2 with the same fault, that would suggest you were the problem and not the console.

i wonder if it was actually me that broke it
I didnt do anything though tbh, and it did seem to be running really hot
The HDD light was flashing amber

yea same as me, my first one worked for 7 month fine, then made a bang sound and went off, 2nd one lasted less than a week with the same bang

Adjust the SCART or HDMI, wiggle it a bit. Mine did this earlier, I was scared for a sec, I thought I had the shit reliability of a 360 all over again

Mine does this when i swap tv's, hold down the on button for 5 sec's and wait for the beeps. it resets it.
it might be set up with HDMI, when your using scart.
