I think finding another bin may work out less hassle. Have you considered generating less rubbish?

We already recycle so whats in there is stuff we cant recycle and its just a council issue bin and they wont collect any extra thats left next to the bin...
Might have a chat with the old biddy next door as he is on his own!

Although your original idea would be good cos if you didnt weld it properly and the bloke puts it on the lorry as its tipping up it splits in half, would make for a proper ownage FAIL picture

I asked the council for another green bin as I live on the end of the row and therefore have twice as much land ( as proved by google earth)
they in essence told me to piss off

The council here will give you a second bin if you call up and tell them you require one.

Our local authority will give you a larger bin at a cost, maybe yours will do the same?

Someone (or the wind) stole my green bin on Thursday.
I don't tend to use it, so no drama. Apparently a lot of councils have admitted taking materials from recycling collections straight to land fill just recently. It kind of makes you wonder what the point is.
We may aswell just burn it all in our gardens.

Our council wouldnt give us another one unless we had 6 adults living in the house, and seems we only had 5 at the time they said no

Here in Lincoln we have weekly rubbish collection andfortnightly recycling.
In my student house (where the people I live with arent very good at recycling, so they dump cardboard, glass etc) we have average 4 or 5 people on average here every day and only have 1 bin bag a week, maybe at a push 2 if we do 0% recycling, so cant see why you need more than 1 bin for 2 weeks, unless u are wasting food etc.
If you are chucking food away, not thought about putting it in a composter? Can always sell the shit on then when it does its business
