and have no idea about either other than most of my mates have Xbox`s and my brother has one thats fucked with "a common faliure" :boggle

depends, game wise they will always be on the same level, 360 has some games out already that the ps3 will never get to see, but the ps3 will have games out the the 360 will never get so wings and roundabouts. the ps3 has blu-ray built in, which is a plus, but the 360 has much better online.

im not too interested in its DVD playing qualities, im not a lover of films anyway, and, if/when the Xbox breaks how much hassel is it to get repaired?

TBH I doubt it would break. Yes there was a problem with the early ones but thats sorted now. PS3 had over heating problems at the start aswell, just not documented to the same extent!!
360 really is the better console at the moment!

360 has more games, better online and imo a more comfortable controller.
ps3 has bluray, and erm... well it is apparantly less likely to break on u.
i have a 360 and will buy a ps3 at some pointt his year

I miust admit its probably going to be an Xbox
one question though, how do they go online? they wireless? we have a wireless network in the house anyway, and is it £40 per console a year for Live?

360 you'll have to spend 100 quid to get online wirelessly, ps3 you take out of the box and plug in.

You can either connect right to the router with the supplied ethernet cable or you can use a wireless ethernet bridge (£20) or a microsoft xbox wireless dongle (£30-40)
Live subscription is £40 for 12 months. Bargin really considering the service

i have an xbox and my mate has a ps3.
most games come out for both these days and i often use the ps3 when im round his.
tbh i would just walk into a shop and grab whats nearest, there nothing in it, 360 does have better online though

I have both consoles and i allways play my PS3 over the the 360. Xbox live is fantastic for things that you dont get for the ps3 like in game messages and gamerscores. The ps3 feels a lot better and i prefer the controllers and looks of the ps3.
Games allready out on the 360 are brill but some good titles will be on the ps3 very soon like metal gear 4 and GT5.
