Just interested to know who on heres uses a mac / mac book for home use really, what you use it for and what swayed your decision to get one instead of a windows based machine?
Im tempted to get a macbook pro for home use, 1 because i dont currently have a laptop and 2 i can get into midi/digital when DJ'in running ableton/traktor scratch pro
They seem decently powerful machines, or are they more form over function?

I've a MacBook. Use it a fair bit at the moment as i'm not staying at my own place. Tend to use RDP Client to connect to Windows Servers and use Firefox to browse the internet.
They are ok, i still prefer Windows though.

Is strange because I love most things apple but hate macs. Everytime I go on my dads simple things are a 5 minute job,a lot of apps I use e.g. Grabit doesn't work on there and Mac alternatives annoy me.they are great for simple Internet, emails, looking at photos etc and suits my dad perfect as he was forever getting spyware and viruses etc.

I use a macbook for day to day browsing, msn, music etc. Having used windows for years at home/work/school etc I much prefer the mac. The only thing is, if you're used to windows it takes a bit of getting used to and can't always find equivalent applications

Used to use one for Photoshop. I have to use too many PC only programs which would mean I'd get a Mac and have to load Windows on it
I'm tempted by a Mac Mini but the cost of the thing now is ridiculous if you wanted all Apple peripherals, and as I'm a fanboy I'd need that stuff.

I use Windows for work but it's crap and gets viruses

Same put have a macbook pro. I prefer it to windows, just a nicer experience and in my opinion easier to operate. I do work on for courses etc as well. I wouldn't buy a windows laptop now, i don't think.

I had to set one up the other day in work.
Macbook pro, the hardware is nice, really nice, I know from experience though it's not as easy or cheap as a normal laptop to repair when they go wrong.
The OS, had nothing but problems since it went out, good for browsing the web and using itunes or fannying about with whatever audio stuff you get for them.
Completely useless for getting any work done.
I'd have one with windows on it if I had cash to throw about.

They run an Apple/Intel x86 architecture. It's the same but different to a PC

Macbook Pro
I use it purely for the internet, music, and viewing photos. I don't use a computer for work anymore.
