Got a phone call off a nice scottish lady at the O2 Broadband HQ today to tell me they are cancelling my contract because they are unable to provide me the service I want because i've downloaded about 120GB over two months which is against their fair usage policy even though they do not specify a figure for fair usage
I've been given my mac code, no fees to pay off etc as they are unable to provide me with the service i want, the question is who do I go to next? My exchange isnt unbundled so can you recommend anyone?

Least they didn't do a Tiscali and knock you down to 56k until they deemed you had paid them back!
I'm with Sky and have no problems.

Sky claimed to me that their service is truly unlimited. I might take them up on that when I get connected at the end of the week....

Willay - I'd recommend bethere tbh, I'm with them (been with them for the past couple of years now...)
Not the first time I've hit 400Gb in a month, never had any issues either. Nothing is throttled, capped, nothing...
I'm on the Pro package, 1 static IP, £22 a month pretty much, can't fault...
Also run email and web servers, 2xgame servers and again no issues with contention or bandwidth... 22Mb down, 2.5Mb upload speeds, no drops, or anything else either. considering its about 1km from the exchange, not bad again.
Oh, Bethere *do* have a FUP policy... but... as far as I know, it's about 1.5TB per month. Thats it Not like others who claim unlimited but have stupid FUP's (Sky, for example...)

Bart - Plusnet Biz costs a few quid though? I use to pay 30 quid a month with eclipse but I need to watch the pennies, so around 20 quid is nice
Paul - alot of friends reccomend bethere/o2 but they are all on unbundled exchanges :/ When I'm on a non unbundled exchange its using BT's network so it costs them more I think.

Whack your phone number into this
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search
Then just look if your LLU is listed as having BeThere
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/MRHAR
Thats my exchange...
As long as you are on a BT Line, and BeThere is LLU in your area, you're fine. But yeah, if there is a red cross next to it, pretty much stumped...

Unfortunately then you're going to be stung by caps & FUP's regardless

BE FairUsage Policy;

Well, yes, we have one. But it will only affect you if you're downloading illegal materials,
Well thats you out of the Question Willay

Only if you get caught or download more than 1.5TB in a month lol! Torrents, as a whole, aren't filtered though

ADSL24 or Newnet are worth a look - not cheap though but don't traffic shape (certainly not on newnet)

I'm with plusnet, can't fault them tbh. Speed is a bit shit here, but that's BT's fault.

Right got to sort this out, so far:
Bethere - Wont serve me because they arent in my exchange.
Plusnet - unlimited package is £41 a month for a 12 month contract, or £37 a month for a 24 month contract but you need to pay £36 upfront as a connection charge too
Going to try Sky

If you're going to Plus Net you might get some referral deal thing if you mention my username which is capslock.
I'm on their very basic package, capped during the day but unmetered at night, I just schedule anything I need. Comes in around 16/17/18 quid depending whether I go a few cheeky Mb over the monthly day time allowance.
That includes the phone line as well.
