...yesterday and my internet on the laptops been running mega slow so just did a speed test which came up with the top result.
Checked the telephone socket to see the sky connected up to it so I unplugged the Sky connection, ran it again and got the bottom result.
Why on earth does my sky box affect the internet so much? Needless to say it won't be getting plugged in again.

Needs a microfilter between the sky cable and the BT socket.

Unplug it and leave it out unless you need to order something through Sky, I did that as I had the same problem and they never said anything to me.

You may or may not get chased up, luck of the draw.

I was ok for about 3 years until the randomly started chasing me up a couple of months ago.
Meant I ran a phone line to it and I can now set it to record from my mobile though

I can do that without having a phoneline connected

Ah balls forgot about the recording from your mobile thing, we'd like to use that.
This is how Sky installed it
I've now put the sky connection at the end into the filter
Ran the speed test again
Still slightly slower than without but i did run the previous speed tests about an hour ago so I suppose the network could be busier or something.

Is that 2 filters? Should only have 1, if it's working though leave it.

Two filters as the router goes into the top one and the home phone(and now sky) goes into the bottom one...

Should only have one filter with both coming off, I can see that you wouldn't be able to fit both in one with that big gay sky thing though so best just to leave it if it's working.

Cool, if having two filters won't affect the internet speed i'm happy to leave it.

The only time I've ever had a phoneline connected to the box was to get my free showing of inception last week. I've been using my mobile to set recordings for the last couple of months though

I've absolutely no idea how then, that's how it sends the record signal.

Dont forget though that you have to leave the router on for 10 days so they can continually run checks to achieve the maximum connection speeds. After 10 days you may have a better connection when they have updated it all.

The 10 days is also only with RADSL as well, if you get the LLU sky package that doesn't happen.
