They should have picked android but nokia know how to make good hardware so this could be big for both of them.

My mate has a win7 phone and I personally dislike some of the menu styles that fill 3/4of the screen.
But it is quite a neat device. I like the live tiles and screen (Mozart)

They're still not even scrapping Symbian yet either, if you believe the official standpoint. I guess they might be saying that to stop Anssi Vanjoki looking like an even bigger knob.

Meego and windows are much better platforms than symbian, can't polish a turn in this instance.

It's really an awful and sluggish OS, possibly partly down to hardware, but for me, each phone with symbian seemed to get slower and slower.
I think around 1500 employees walked out in protest?

Sort of. Engadget is saying that they actually all just arranged their flexi-time to leave at the same time rather than actually quitting their jobs

Symbian was a great operating system in it's time, just like the NES was a killer console. Times move on and tech changes. Need to letgo.
Nokia have an employee that lives in my town and he sometimes comes in and talks nonsense about phones and the industry. In 2009 he purchased 2 iPhone 3GS off me. To "see what the fuss was about" for the office (he was reasonably high up)
That alone shocked me since the iPhone was released I. 2007. They literally had no idea how it worked or how to use it, I had to explain the basics.
Shocking tbh

Nokia were undoubtedly the best at phones until only a couple of years ago, they just didn't innovate and quickly lost the plot.

Yeah arrogance to blame tbh, they just always assumed it would be them who was top and didn't try.

Well when you CEO has the attitude that using another operating system is like pissing yourself for warmth you've probably got a slight lack of open minded-ness, or a grip on what consumers want/require.
