Ideally after something with breakdown cover as well as travel insurance.

What have you got? What's on offer at the moment?

Santander 123 cash back thing. Works ok.

Trouble is as our mortgage is with Santander it shows the balance every time I log in.

Same here. In 5 years the balance remaining has only reduced by 9k, despit paying in nearly a grand a month for the first 3 years and 750 for the next 2.

We both have Halifax accounts and I have a TSB account I use for personal work.

Just wondering if there are any good deals out there for us.

I need to cover the Astra with the AA or RAC as the Mrs uses this with little one (It's happened before where she has left the lights on and I was 200 miles away). Wouldn't mind that covering my bangers also. Focus is coverd by Ford on AA and bangers are not essential.

You're telling me. £3k nearly off the balance and we've been paying in £715 per month for the last 18 months.

Keep looking at it thinking "next month it'll be sub-£130k as there's less than £750 to go. It strikes off about £200 every month

Halifax covers any car you are in as the account holder. It's decent.

£15 a month gives you travel insurance, break down insurance, mobile phone insurance, cash back deals and a few other things. You have to pay in £1000 a month perhaps that's difficult for you?

that's your issue - should have kept your payments at 1k even though your rate changed - that would have been another 6k off the bottom line

The joint accounts that you pay for are great because both account holders get the benefits so you basically get twice as much for the same monthly fee.

We had Natwest Platinum which was good. It has breakdown cover, phone insurance, travel insurance, Tastecard and free National Trust passes (if you like that kind of thing).

We recently upgraded to Natwest Black and now we also get priority passes for airport lounge access and home emergency insurance.

This is not an issue, spending £15 a month is. It's another bill i don't really want.

However, we do need breakdown cover asap really.

Was hoping there were some free deals out the

You used to get £5 back if you paid in a grand with halifax, so it's actually only a tenner.

Whether £15 or £10, it's pretty damn good value for travel insurance, AA cover, phone insurance and probably loads of other crap I never looked at.

Breakdown cover per month isn't much less than £15. And tbh if £15 a month is a struggle, then I really don't know what to suggest? Overtime at work? New job?

the account that gives you all that charges £15 by I don't think it pays anything back. Mine doesn't anyway but it works out good value anyway so I'm not troubled by it.
