That alone makes me think it's not worth taking part. With the lag etc accidental accidents will happen - e.g. not caused by driver error or intent of crashing into others - yet it will ruin your race instantly.
For example... as you say, 1st corner which is a slow tight one, a back marker piles into the back of someone at the front ... both get damaged and have to pit - suddenly over a minute down on the rest of the pack - race over.

yea i agree to some extent.. but thats like saying i best allow skid recovery incase someone gets a corner wrong and they come off and hit a barrier, race over
my upload speed is about 6mb/sec so there shouldnt be any problem with lag, possibly if someone with a 56k connection joins there may be a slight problem.
just play it safe, LFS' damage was just as bad as this and there was never a problem when we raced on that, granted the quality of drivers was alot higher in online public games but in general i cant imagine there would be a big problem..
yes, someone will get a shunt and will end up in the gravel with a puncture or something but then they should of been aware of whats going on.

People have to take their time overtaking, whats the point in trying to outbrake someone into the first corner and ruining other peoples race when you have got another 30 laps to make a move.

Exactly right, Ryan. Over a race this long there will be plenty of time to prepare a good move.
Dan - There are two in the Mazda dealership

Just got both mazdas and tuned them up
the '91 is 199bhp and 840kg (after 81 miles of driving
the '89 is 196bhp and 831kg (not 1 mile driven)
i think the one you should go for is the '89 model (cheapest)
