Ah right. The site makes it seem like it's iPad2 for £329 and "iPad with retina" (iPad3?) for £399. I was getting confused with the whole version thing, be it 2, 3 or 4  Whittie told me the mini was the 4. The site isn't much clearer. I thought your point was you may as well get the retina display and that's the £399 one, not the £329 one (or so the site implies).
Either way, I've bought the £399 16GB retina one, which I assume is the latest.

Yep, "iPad with Retina display" has replaced the iPad 3. You'd have to be a bit daft to buy a 2 at £329.
Other retailers have been discounting the 3 recently, presumably because the new one is the same rrp so they are gonna be stuck with whatever 3's they had in stock.

I can't really tell the difference with iPads or MacBooks, it's not as obvious as on the phones

They just had the iPad 3 on Currys for £329 for today; I just managed to place an order mins before it ended.
Came accross it by luck as was just about to buy a second hand iPad 2 for not much less!!

Looks like I shall be going to argos tomorrow to buy my Ipad with retina display why cant they just stick to ipad 1,2,3,4 just like the iphones or add the S onto it! Not allowed it till my birthday though

make sure you get the 4th gen, if its from argos my guess is they'll still be shifting 3rd gens without specifically stating as a lot of people havent noticed theyve changed

4th gen is the latest but is £399 its got the new dock connector (which most new gadgets, docks etc will begin using) much better front camera, and a newer faster processor.
id 100% get a 4 over a 3
