wow great choice
I think it's going to be a case of preserving tyres - seca is generally quite an oversteery track in places.
Seca isn't a particularly fast track - quite a lot of bends and ideal for the mx5... it'll all be about being smooth and not going sideways.

Great track choice Dave, suits the MX5 perfectly, I was quite surprised how planted it was through the corkscrew, my back end never stepped out there and I was full throttle!
I did a 1.38'4 at Laguna when I was driving properly , I wondered what happened to you AK lol.
Fiat 500 race was hilarious!

ive been doing some testing regarding setups and ive come to the conclusion that the way GT5 makes use of the setting you put in are just fucked..
i did maximum hard springs, dampers etc and the ride felt the same as full soft..
i reset the car to default and did a 1'38.8 on lap 6
put a little bit of toe out on the front with some camber (0.8) and then made the rear stiffer rather than the front softer.. these very small changes should of ment i got slightly better turn in.. well no i got the same turn in (using the same turn degree on my wheel and in the exact same place) i got no difference, the only difference i got was the rear was more oversteering after the corner, like a power oversteer rather than a turn in oversteer..
i was reading the GTP forums and they are all complaining that the understeer is almost built into the game and nothing you can do will dial it out..
nobody can decide id the higer the number on springs is harder or softer, i cant tell the difference..
maybe my car need a rigidity check and engine check as that might be causing it to act like it is..

I'm still running the same setup from Cote d' azur. The only thing I've been changing is the gear ratio as no matter what I change the car always seems to be the same. No gain or decrease in pace.

my driving has been shit recently, i can feel and see myself doing utterly completley stupid things and i find im saying to myself why the fuck did you just do that!
maybe its because i am using a new chair which is still abit alien, well stool not chair there is no back support at all, but the more i play with the same car the more im starting to notice things which dont seem... right..
maybe its the fact my car is fucked, i might buy another and try that out and see what happens.

ive not looked at it, it might just be something that simple, when jamie was following me earlier he was turning in tighter than i was and i just couldnt keep my lead. i dont know if he noticed catching me up on every corner but i certainly did lol.
i will try rigidity maintenance tomorrow and see if it fixes it.

I've changed settings and noticed big differences.
Pauls setup is very oversteery compared to your Monaco setup Chris.

its got to be my car then because no matter what i did nothing felt any different. i dont remember the car driving so understeery when we racedcat indy, or monaco for that matter, was a little bit shit on grand valley but i put it down to the setup.

saying that... Pauls turn in is much better but the rear end feels very loose on power.
I may try a setup with his as a base and alter the rear a bit.
More diff lock would cause the front to push (understeer) and that was the main difference between my setup and yours Chris.

That's how we prefer our cars set-up. When we used to play LFS, if we shared setups, mine would always be on the edge and loose and Chris' would often be a lot more stable, almost understeery.
The downside is I tend to burn up the tyres faster with a loose setup. Providing you get used to easing the throttle in through the corners and pre empting the slide / balancing it to reduce oversteer - then it's pretty good to have the car loose.

To quote Harry Hog:
quote: Harry Hogge: When the rear end's loose, the car's fast. Loose is fast, and on the edge you're out of control.
