Yeah I think this held back my time a bit, just left it as it was and went for it. Couldn't be bothered to change the setting and try again Will have another go at some point

Race Car Pack....
Is it really worth it?
Can the cars be gifted to folk that dont have the pack? I want to try out the GTR TC's but cant quite bring myself to spend £7 after paying for the game itself

I've improved to a 35.714 after shortening the gear and a bit of practice Took better lines on that lap too.

I sent it before we raced online.
Essentially my best car is the 4.2 R8 - I can beat any road car in it at any PP level. It just handles superbly when you get used to driving it... trail brake turn turn the front in and then throttle to get it to hold its line on the way out - if it under steers at all, just lift and put back on the throttle.
Protip - it's quicker than the V10 R8 5.2 - because the 4.2 v8 handles better.
- So anyway, I was trying something out last night. Bought a new r8 and was trying to see if I could make a quicker version that had more power but more weight (my r8 is light 1240kg) regarding pp points. That became that black one with yellow wheels. Unfortunately it's not as fast as my lightweight r8 - as it doesn't handle as well.
- So I didn't want it anymore - I could strip the weight out and it'd be as good as my current r8 but then i'd have two, so I sent it to you.
- but then, you said you hate r8s

I don't hate them, just haven't tended go get on with them well in the past. I'm sure with practice it'll be fine I saw it's got selected mods bought already, do you just add them when you are doing a higher pp event? Thanks for it though mate, I'll give it a try out next time I go on

Yeah pretty much...
Pro tip... doing the engine restriction to reach a lower pp ends up with a less powerful car, than if you just take the parts off.
Anotherwords, you pretty much want to avoid doing power restriction at all costs to get a car under the limit.
So, having all mods except for exhaust on and the car is say 530 bhp @ 550 pp ... where as all mods on, but the engine restricted down to 550 pp would only mean the car is 445 bhp
You need to strip the remaining weight out of that r8 though - it handles so much better at 1260kg than 1450kg.
At 550pp on soft racing tyres it should lap the ring around 6 min 38 ish... from a standing start. That's quicker than most other road cars at 550pp.
Leave the suspension as standard, if I fitted the sports kit, remove it - the car handles a lot better on standard suspension. the car naturally turns in, so most corners you can take flat out, with a slight lift in the middle to get the front to tuck in. Rarely understeers or oversteers and just stays planted hence it's so fast.

Has anyone in the history of GT5 ever actually golded the Top Gear intermediate event? I've just had a go with the wheel and it actually makes me angry, it is that frustrating. Who thought it was a great idea to use comfort hard tyres on that car? It should be some sort of unlockable super hard event as it is that stupid. If you're not sliding because of the bad tyres then the AI cars are hitting you and either causing you to be disqualified or just plain pushing you out of the way/turning in on you, causing you to spin.

That goes without saying though tbf Paul as you're super elite
Just been having a go with that R8 on the ring, got in a 7: 04 but that wasn't clean (1 small off and 2 spins). Handles really nice like you said though, can properly throw it around. Standard I really can't get on with it for some reason but this one is spot on

Maybe I'll give that one a miss as I nearly punched the steering wheel
Probably not going to bother again tbh, the prize is only 44k cr so hardly worth it. Just wanted to have a try with the wheel to see if it was easier. I think that if the AI worked properly then it might be tolerable. It would still be hard, but with the possibility of being driven into removed, it would help a lot. E.g. earlier I was going down the hammerhead and another cat was next to me without me knowing. I was just going in a straight line and then all of a sudden *THUD* oh look, I'm spinning. Thanks for that.

I think I've semi broken my g25... it's got slack in the spindle - like I can rock the wheel like the bearing the shaft sits in has gone.

on the topic of steering on GT5.
I bought F1 2011 the other day and spent a few hours playing it yesterday. The steering in it seems much better... you can properly tell when the car begins to slide (especially unndersteer). GT5 doesnt seem to do this as well unless you are on dirt or ice/snow.
Anyone else play F1 2011?
Started a career on easy but had to start making it harder as I was pumping the whole field by about 5secs a lap in a force india

Yeah I play that sometimes. Also had the same problem with difficulty First race I entered I won and lapped about 6 people, and this was also in a Force India Need to start again once I've got the TC/ABS etc how I want it, so that the difficulty is right instead of being too easy or too hard. When using the pad I put the difficulty up a notch and couldn't qualify better than 18th, so lowered it and was well in the top 10. Need to find a good balance of difficulty and driver aids to get it about right.
One thing I found a lot easier on the wheel was gear changes, mainly downshifting as you go through so many in one go. On a pad it was really hard to do so left it on Auto, no problem on the wheel though
