there's a few ways to combat the cheaters... been reading on the xbox forums...
If you go 3-0/4-0 up and your opponent goes into the formation settings during a game, follow them in there. If they're cheating they will wait for the timer to reach zero. When it reaches zero the game will hang and will wait for either of you to quit (and award the other a 3-0 victory). Just send them a message saying you're going to the pub or something and will be leaving your xbox on they'll soon quit. Change your online status to offline or away to make it seem a bit more believeable.
Another way is to create your own matches and set the number of pauses to 0. This way they can't access the menus but it means you can't change formations etc...
take a look at ProScotsman's profile on Pro Evo... something like 800 wins in a row and the majority of them are 3-0. Blatant cheater.
Hopefully this advice will make people's online gaming experiences a bit better.

I had some great games last night on Live. 5 minutes, played mostly english people with a few italians and spanish thrown in. All the games were played in good spirit, sent them a message after the game saying 'good game' etc... got messages back and some preferred feedback.
Very enjoyable. It seems as though players in D2 and D3 play more for fun and don't really care about winning/losing. Unlike those in D1.

ive won nearly all the cups dave. i saw that you had them and and tried them. 5 mins on beginner took me about 30 mins each 240 points for me
(in the konami cup i only did a 2 team cup. 40 points in 5 mins  )
