Osx updates as a download. The new osx lion will be only available through the mac app store. Which you need snow leopard to install. So if you haven't got snow leopard, lion is going to cost you £60 rather than 30. Shit IMO that it's download only.

You'll have to define work then.

Do I even have to start to explain how retarded, desperate and useless an argument that is?

Updates, windows gives you all updates as a download apart from when it's a whole new OS, do Apple give you a whole new OS for free?

Same. Apple just don't redesign the UI with each new OS.

I will asure you, that you will never be satisfied with a Mac and many people won't, but for the love of God please stop telling yourself and others that it's never the right choice. You're wrong and you come off as a tool.

Just a shame apple have canned FCP and only have the FCPX which for many doesn't provide what many people want. Its missing quite a few industry features which is a shame considering its a busines application

Still need to install drivers (Ktext's) for hardware

Apart from the obvious, ie: needing to run FCP / Logic, Macs originally (when Macs were Macs running PowerPC processors, rather than Macs being PC's in sheep's clothing) offered better performance to a equivalent PC. And this was certainly the case with my 001 Protools PC and G4 rigs (PC was slightly higher spec at 1GHz) at home and in the studio; the G4's handle 50% more plugins under Protools than on the Window system(s).

But since Apple decided to go Intel, stupid idea personally, the performance increase Macs had has pretty much disappeared and there is no real reason to go one or other unless your software dependant (FCP/Logic etc).
Unfortunately, this stigma has stuck and a lot of people still believe there is this massive performance increase going Mac.

And if you're just after the OSX experience, grab a copy of 10.6 for £20/30 and install it on your PC hardware.

They are very clever with the marketing i.e. the Macbook Air is nice little machine, very snappy too but a lot of that is down to the use of SSDs where as most other PCs haven't moved over to the SSDs so appear slower but its not comparing the same thing.

Gav, its still cheaper than windows granted, and if you already have snow leopard, £21 isnt bad at all. If you're still on leopard however you need to buy snow leopard to buy lion, and if you want to clean install, you have to install snow leopard, update it to 10.6.8, then download lion from the app store, then install it.

ball ache.
