Hey All
Am just about to start making my boot install for my corsa c. I was just wondering how you managed to secure you boxes. I am thinking of making a flasefloor that will site my amps in and have a recess for the boxes to sit in. Or would it be beter just to make a floor and then build everything up on that instead of using recces and then attach everything to that.
It will be holding two 12's if i can get it all to fit in nicely.
If anyone has got any ideas on how to do it and on how to lay it out sothat it would all fit in. I have read some of the other posts like Mavs when he did a 3D model of his boot.
Hope all of this makes sense.

There are two ways ive secured boxes in the past.
1. Right angled brackets (colour coded so it dont look stupid)
2. Shitloads of velcro
Both those methods work great, but i would use both for extra piece of mind.
Giving you an idea of a layout wouldnt make it your install would it

also think about security, fixing the box with brackets will be more difficult to remove by thieves!!

I have decided on building a flase floor ans securing everything to that with screws and maybe mounts recessed slighty into the floor and box's so that it all sits flush. I am then going to see if i can build another floor and mount it just above so that i can put my amps and wires in the gap and put a perspex cover across the amps.
To do this i know that i will need to mount a couple of fanes to move air around to cool the amps. For this i was thinking of using fans from pc's. Would i have to run a new live wire for them or will i be able to use an existing live?
Also what thckness mdf should i use. I was thinking 6mm for both floors and then 12mm for the boxes so there will be enough thickness after i recess slighlty for the brackets. Would that be ok or is it to thick?

thats similar to what i did. i have a false floor supporting the amps and frame which holds the subs and another floor raised above it slightly to hide all the wires and brackets!
if you used fans you would need a 'new' or seperate (from the amps) live and earth to run them. make sure they run on 12v!!
i used 20mm plywood for the base and 6mm plywood for the cover! I would use thicker wood for the base!!! (10mm min)

Yeah, that's pretty much what i have done as well, one false floor, got amp on that, then above that did another floor to hold the sub, Sub is secured by right angled brackets @ moment.
Still not got a fan for the amp yet either, there's a fair bit of space so it should keep relatively cool anyway.
Can get fans from Maplins, that's where i got mine from, just never put it in 
Can't remember how thick the wood was though... Know it's all MDF, was thickest i could find

what do you lot use to secure the bottom false floor to the boot floor ?
velcro or sumin?

I had a false floor in my 205, and if they fit perfectly they dont budge, my floor stayed in after i rolled the car

Thaks for replying everyone.
Well i have been looking for the mdf today and i have been thinking about using 18mm for the false floor and boxes. If there is enough left i will use that for the shelf but if not i was thinking of using 6mm so that it isnt very thick.
Would 18mm be ok for the floor and the boxes?
Can i use the live from my boot light to run the fans or will i need to run a new live from the battery? I have got a fan already as we took it out of the pc for a new one. So am going to use that for now.

u can hook the fans upto the remote wire on ur amps, that way they only come on when the amps are on, if u hook them to the boot light, they will only be on then the boot is open unless u disable the switch, then they wood be on all the time!
