Right,
I was drivin along last nite and i heard a hissing sound, it sounded like it was from the air intake area, the nwhen I rev it makes a high pitch sound that increases with revs. dunno what it is? Its a 1.5D if that is any use

If it's that loud it could be a perished inlet manifold gasket. As the others have said, check pipwork for leaks first though.
