OK, trying to sell my corsa, one guy has just been round to look at it, but says the clutch is going cos its fairly stiff and hard to get into first gear. Ive had this problem since i bought the car 3 years ago but just got used to it. Looks as though i need to get it fixed before i sell the car, as any one else would point out the same thing.
Any suggestions to what it is/how to fix it?
Its stiff when going into first, it crunches slightly when putting it in reverse (not sure if that is related to it) the clutch bites very low down and doesnt seem to slip at all (I thought it would be higher, and slip if it was the clutch on its way out)
Its an 95 M reg corsa 1.2

mine has always been crap to get in 1st from cold and always crunches into reverse, has done for 4 1/2 years.
cable could be a bit rusty hence its stiff.

Cheers for that. Just a bit peed off cos he went to take if for a test drive and literally took it round the block and brought it back.
Are they easy enough to adjust do you know?

Get the clutch pedal adjusted, thats wot i did till it started doin it again a month later

I had the stiff gear problem. Mine was stiff into first and second though. Got my local mechanic to take a look and he adjusted something and been fine ever since (few months).

Right, been at my dads and we tried to do something with two drill bits and lining up some holes... without much luck...
When i got home i tried adjusting the clutch and it seems to have fixed it, still slightly more stiff than the other gears, reverse is spot on now (I used to have to slam it into reverse!)
Thanks anyway guys! Hopefully I sould get it sold pretty soon.

my car hates going into 1st when cold.. and reverse sometimes is also hard to get into.. i know my gearbox is slowly on its way out tho... but my dad had an old cav, and he had it on that too...
afaik the old vauxhalls e.g mine are shite when cold!

it could be the gear linkage,mine was away n it was hard to get it into first.
